Avocados are Awesome


In 5.29 ounces you get a whopping 21% potassium, along with a host of other important minerals. Potassium is an electrolyte which is involved, amongst other things, with muscle mass and glycogen storage. 

25% vitamin C - to help promote a healthy immune system
39% vitamin K - a fat soluble vitamin involved in blood clotting and other important functions
18% vitamin E - a very important fat soluble vitamin that acts as an anti-oxidant in the cell, scavenging for free radicals that make us sick

A very good amount of the B vitamins except for vitamin B12. B vitamins are essential for metabolism. Although there are other vitamins in avocados they are not discussed here. However, one thing is clear. Avocados are healthy. Despite the fact that there is 240 calories in 5.29 ounces, remember, that amount has only 3 grams of saturated fat and the rest of the fat comes from heart healthy, cholesterol-lowering monounsaturated fat. It is a great alternative to meat because it fills you up despite the 3 grams of protein because fat is filling as well.
