The Smart Fat

The Smart Fat


Monounsaturated Fat is the Best type of fat we could consume. It lowers LDL (bad cholesterol) resulting in lower
total cholesterol,  lowers triglycerides, and does NOT lower HDL (good cholesterol) ~ that's why it's smart. 
The best sources are: 
Olive Oil
Canola Oil
Peanut Oil
Avocados
Olives
Almonds, cashews, peanuts, and pistachios
Why is this important? Because it keeps our arteries more supple decreasing the risk of arteriosclerosis (hardening of the artery walls) which can lead to heart disease, and also decreases insulin resistance, which ultimately leads to diabetes. Bottom line: We need fat in our diets, but when we choose healthy and smart fats, we postpone the onset of cardiovascular disease (cvd)! Stay tuned for stupid fat information.
